I’ve deleted dozens of Nigerian scam e-mails over the years, but occasionally read them through because the stories can be humorous (not to mention the writing). The one that came last night though, was considerably darker.
I have confirmed that it’s a hoax, but it sure was strange to wake up to this message:
Good day,
I want you to read this message very carefully, and keep the secret with you till further notice, You have no need of knowing who i am, where am from, till i make out a space for us to see,i have being paid $50,000.00 in advance to terminate you with some reasons listed to me by my employer, its one i believe you call a friend,i have followed you closely for one week and three days now and have seen that you are innocent of the accusation,Do not contact the police or F.B.I or try to send a copy of this to them, because if you do i will know, and might be pushed to do what i have being paid to do,beside this is the first time i turned out to be a betrayer in my job.

Lucky You
Snicker. Off to resume cleaning up the kitchen.
Umm … you did forward that to the appropriate authorities, haven’t you?
Nail the putz!
Cool
I think this needs to be looked into by the authorities at least at the State level. Hoax or not it is a crime to communicate a threat. I would take this as a threat.
You had to look this up to tell it was a hoax?
I’m with them NM. You need to contact the local constabulary and file a complaint. It does appear pretty stupid, but it needs to be reported.
Now go and “comply good.”

The FBI is apparently taking this seriously
Okay, given that the local office of the FBI actually accepts e-mail communications, I’ve sent them the whole thing (including complete header data, starting with the origination at Received: from mxm08aec ([205.152.59.244]).
I expect this to be the end of it, but if they can glean anything from the header info, then I’ve done all I can do.
I think this was an excellent move NM. It appears they do have a file open on this b.s. and it needs to be reported to the Bureau. You must have someone giving you excellent advice.
Appears to be a quack message, perhaps sent by disgruntled some birds, like geese, mocking or vulture?
Reader, I’m going to assume this was just a random spam unless and until there is reason to believe otherwise. Geese are generally more prey than predator; the only hazard is in their droppings.
And they drop, a whole bunch!
