{"id":454,"date":"2007-08-16T11:39:19","date_gmt":"2007-08-16T15:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.citizennetmom.com\/?p=454"},"modified":"2007-08-16T11:39:19","modified_gmt":"2007-08-16T15:39:19","slug":"tidbitz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.citizennetmom.com\/?p=454","title":{"rendered":"Tidbitz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.commercialappeal.com\/mca\/local\/article\/0,2845,MCA_25340_5674238,00.html\" target=\"_blank\">No cash for Ophelia<\/a>: thankfully, there is a judge in Memphis with some sense.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nashvillecitypaper.com\/news.php?viewStory=57261\" target=\"_blank\">something unethical<\/a> about these required ethics classes for lobbyists.&nbsp; It&#8217;s just the latest in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.citizennetmom.com\/?p=432\">long line<\/a> of what appears to be profiteering from required training or testing that seem to yield little value.&nbsp; Is there something magical about charging $150 for a class or test required by the state (especially one where the participants feel like they didn&#8217;t get anything out of it, and couldn&#8217;t even have a cuppa joe to keep them awake)?<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/nashvilleknucklehead.blogspot.com\/2007\/08\/tenpenny-takes-few-of-my-pennies.html\" target=\"_blank\">candidate&#8217;s worst transgression<\/a> (the last of many, it seems) loses him a vote (tip: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news2wkrn.com\/vv\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kleinheider<\/a>).&nbsp; As more people switch to cell phones in place of landlines, this could really impact polling and politicking.&nbsp; Already, polls are skewed toward the older voter, who is more likely to 1) have a landline, 2) not screen their calls, and 3) be home to answer it.&nbsp; I do realize that older citizens are more likely to vote than their younger counterparts, but that could change &#8212; and when it does, tactics will have to change with it.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Thursday (for those of us on a 4&#215;10 workweek: Functionally Friday)!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No cash for Ophelia: thankfully, there is a judge in Memphis with some sense.
