{"id":287,"date":"2007-01-18T19:51:33","date_gmt":"2007-01-19T00:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.citizennetmom.com\/?p=287"},"modified":"2007-01-18T19:51:33","modified_gmt":"2007-01-19T00:51:33","slug":"first-amendment-threat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.citizennetmom.com\/?p=287","title":{"rendered":"First Amendment Threat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" title=\"David Hardy\" href=\"http:\/\/armsandthelaw.com\/archives\/2007\/01\/register_blogge_1.php\">David Hardy<\/a> has the run-down on the latest threat to free speech: required registration of bloggers with 500 or more readers, who may comment on policy issues.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Say Uncle\" href=\"http:\/\/www.saysuncle.com\/archives\/2007\/01\/18\/you_can_have_my_blog_when_you_pry_it_from_my_cold_dead_hands\/\">Say Uncle<\/a> has the right idea on this one.<\/p>\n<p>I sure as heck don&#8217;t have <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"AT\" href=\"http:\/\/www.atomictumor.com\">AT<\/a>&#8216;s readership, but I have exceeded the 500-reader limit (866 unique visitors, actually) over the past couple of weeks.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been known to take <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"AT: Oak Leaf\" href=\"http:\/\/www.atomictumor.com\/cache\/nov05\/11-25-2005a.htm\">some heat<\/a> over freedom of the press issues, but also to <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"LetsTalkFrank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.letstalkfrank.com\/\">push the limits<\/a> from the other side.\u00c2\u00a0 The difference, quite simply, is that when you own the media, you control what does (or does not) get published.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Bob Krumm\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bobkrumm.com\/blog\/2007\/01\/18\/intimidation-through-registration\/\">Bob Krumm<\/a> wraps it up nicely, too:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m obviously not in favor of this mind-numbingly stupid and anti-constitutional idea.\u00c2\u00a0 Nor do I expect it to get any traction\u00e2\u20ac\u201cespecially once Sen.
